  1. 7th grade math standards.
All students will complete problems 1-10 on page 17 of math text book. By using the text for part of the assignment, it allows student to start their assignment in class. It also provides a baseline for all grades. If staff is having trouble with the idea of differntiating, sometimes starting small helps.

  2. We're working on homophones.
    1. The three this week are their, there, and they're. I orally define the words and show them how to remember the words: their (heir), they're (they are), and there (here and there). Students can verbalize the meaning of the words; identify which would be correct in a sentence I say; say their own sentence and tell which would be correct - all done orally; no pencils, paper, or chalkboard. Spending 10 minutes on the lesson should be adequate.
    2. Students can use the computer to make pamphlets advertising the correct meaning of the words.
    3. Students create a bulletin board with homophones displayed.

    1. Students can make a power point presentation covering the vocabulary and definitions to present to the class in place of the teacher's notes/lecture time.

    2. Students use wordle.net to create a fun and colorful picture with the vocabulary word and summary of meaning.

    3. The students will keep a journal for a week. As they go through the day, they will jot down examples of the different examples they see where people are using figurative language in everyday life.
